Known by everyone with affection as Bishop Mardy, he is currently a counselor in the mission presidency in Haiti and she is the Relief Society president. [..YouTube..] According to the LDS Church Almanac, it is estimated that 2,500 Saints from Ontario left to gather in the United States. In the early days of the church in the West, the vast majority of Canadian Saints were from Ontario. There were a few places in Ontario where so many people converted to the church, when they left to gather in the U.S., it completely changed the demographics of the local area.

To some extent, over the years that same sarcasm has been evident in Utah, as well. Yet the Mormon’s culture’s emphasis on families, as well as the male role as a priesthood holder, usually translates to less laughing at the idea of hapless fathers..

[..YouTube..] The Bessemer Ward is rooted in faithful families who joined the Church in the early 1900s. One of the first members of the Church in the area was Zillah Ann Mitchell Acker. A large number of the quilts were completed by her descendants. One of her descendants is Shannon Campbell, ward Relief Society president. Sister Campbell was impressed by the various means used by sisters in her ward to help out.
