He was constantly being questioned and reigned in, by the 1st Presidency and his fellow apostles, during the time he presented so many politically motivated sermons in general conference. It is interesting to note how much more moderate he was after he became prophet. He clearly shifted his focus to doctrinal matters in his older age, rather than political matters.

Following the pattern used in 44:10, it seems more likely that 44:8 means there is no other God that we should worship. God is our Heavenly Father, he is the only God we should worship. That doesn’t mean that we cannot become like Him or that there aren’t others like Him. The book of Isaiah is full of poetry and is one of the toughest books in the Bible to understand. Try finding clearer verses to codemn an entire religion.

Benson was really RIGHT, in bringing that up: in order to make people more aware of what the true conditions actually were, and what their own role could be, within that.

[..YouTube..] For a so-called prophet, the late EzraBenson preached up freedom and liberty, on the one hand, and espoused a form of “kiss-ass mentality”, on the other hand. (viz, We believe in kissing up to kings…rulers….and mormon-church presidents)
You don’t REALLY think that it means “subject oneself” to presidents of countries, do you??? (Hint: Presidents are not kings who need subjects)
The only presidents who really need “subjects” are the mormon-church type (viz., obey your leaders, now!)
