I know polygamy existed before. But in Biblical times it never commanded by God. It was Sarah who suggested it to Abraham despite the fact God took care of it anyway by helping Sarah conceive at 90.
The first actual recorded polygamist was not Abraham, it was Lamech a descendant of Cain.
Even if God did command it, he wasn’t contradicting himself when he did so as he was in the case of JS (contradicting a revelation given just 3 years prior and the 12th article of faith).

It is really interesting how anti-Mormons like to mention the priesthood, when most of them come from some derision of the Southern Baptist Convention. A group who’s fundamental beliefs was to keep Slavery legal. A group of churches that didn’t change their position until well into the late 1870′s. Consider that verses Joseph Smith riding 100′s of miles try to talk President Buchanan into stopping slavery 30 years prior.

Also a lot of early Christian texts were hidden because they were considered too sacred for the general public. If You read Joshua for example it skips around. The first chapter written was probably 22. Evidence that a lot off books simply hidden or destroyed.

It’s also found in the D&C Section 132, the King Follet Discourse (previously canonized scripture but later removed). Nice try. I can recall numerous lessons where this principle was taught so for Hinckley to say “I don’t know that we teach it” is a flat-out lie.

D&C 132 doesn’t mention the Pre-exalted state of God the Father. Even so, the reference to man is to say that those exalted will be above the angles in their ability to govern. It doesn’t say they progress past a need for God.

As much as that doesn’t sound Christian it makes sense. In the case of evil (or those under the influence of evil) they only understand advance or retreat, ergo victory or failure with no in between. So in their case, turning the other cheek if you will, is retreat, weakness and failure. I think the gospel should be taught boldly, nobly and independent. We don’t love people into the gospel, we challenge them to except the gospel.

For one there were a lot of people that left the church early on. It simply isn’t a claim Joseph Smith could have made. My bet is someone down the line was, “lying for God”. Back in the time of Sam Clements aka Mark Twain, it was very common to simply fabricate a story mixing truth with fiction. EX: Newspapers made money, so why did they care if the story was true?

So in essence God sent Adam first to establish the law. However people are imperfect thus the need for a savior. In addition each generation has had some sort of falling way and need for a restoration through various prophets.

Yes I’m sure that is exactly what Jesus meant.
If you are so interested in what Jesus Christ meant, why don’t you start by looking at the history of your own church, and the millions they butchered in the name of God, and their “evil cult.”
And don’t hide behind the eastern Orthodoxy, it’s all the same.

[..YouTube..] First of all, I’m not Catholic and I believe in the Bible and the Lord but what I don’t believe is the lies spoken by Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. What Joseph Smith preaches is heretical. There is no historical, scientific or archaeological evidence to support the book. Furthermore, the nephite tribe, the angel Moroni and the prophet Mormon are not mentioned in the Holy Bible, not even in prophecies by the TRUE prophets! Blind leading the blind, the Mormons have been lead astray!
